Here’s a photo of Kenny as a very young man. He’s much older and still handsome.

Here is Count Fulco Di Verdura passing the baton to Kenneth Jay Lane

Verdura is possibly the most celebrated precious jewelry designer of the 20th Century. He led an exciting,
high society life during which he partied constantly. He especially loved to dress in costume and gave famous masquerade parties to which members of the upper classes hoped to be invited. His jewelry consists of high karat gold and precious stones, reserved for the very few wealthiest women. He designed wonderful personal adornments for Babe Paley, the Duchess of Windsor, the Shah of Iran, and many stars of stage and screen. Verdura was an accomplished painter as well as jewelry designer, and sought out the most unusual and colorful gemstones to grace the beauty of his clientele.

Kenneth Jay Lane has had a starstudded career as a designer of jewelry, accessories, and as an interpreter of the taste and trends of the times. He has exercised his creative imagination to its fullest since 1963 when he started out in New York City selling his designs on the street in the fashion district. He knows many socialites, movers and shakers, and international celebrities, and has designed for them and with them in mind. Yet his creations are accessible to everyone. His book Faking It tells his story.

“Style has little to do with money and expensive possessions. Attitude and flair make all the difference.” …Kenneth Jay Lane

Mr. Lane creates new ideas daily and uses only the finest components in his pieces. Each crystal “gem” is the finest possible Austrian or German crystal. The gold and silver plating are heavy and thick and will never deteriorate or tarnish. Each piece of jewelry is carefully assembled and finished here in the US by artisans whom Mr. Lane has carefully trained to meet the exacting standards of his COUTURE collection.

Women all over the world who have discriminating taste and good fashion sense collect and wear KJL jewelry. It’s a wonderful legacy and treasured possession. Most of Jackie Onassis’ collection of KJL jewelry was auctioned after her death and brought astonishing high prices–example, $200,000.00 for Jackie’s 3-strand pearl necklace that I sell for $169.00. Mischa Barton is another KJL fan along with Nicole Kidman,
Beyonce, Meryl Streep, Paris Hilton, Hilary Duff, Jean Smart, Carrie Underwood, Paula Abdul, Sharon Osbourne, and many other personalities who must look their best at all times.

Every piece has been carefully selected by us during visits to Mr. Lane’s Manhattan showroom. We can order a specific piece for you if it is in the current collection. No extra charge for this service, and Kennethjaylanesales.com is the only source for this special service!

The owner of Kennethjaylanesales.com, Jane Shafrin, has had a buying relationship with KJL for 20 years and started out as a collector of his vintage pieces.

Coco Chanel originated the term “costume jewelry” to describe jewelry that was made to be worn with specific “costumes” or outfits. (Wikipedia)

The Duchess of Windsor was buried in a Kenneth Jay Lane belt.
